On hearing this gem at the 1991 Monterey Jazz Festival, DC Hall never forgot it and vowed to record it. Transposed for flugelhorn, this rare cover is moody and beautifully melodic and reminds of Mulligan's genius.

DC Hall continues storytelling by dropping into Alternative Country with this vocal release. A tale of a talented, female guitarist and her legendary but fading female boss, it describes youthful ambition and hard won wisdom along with shredding guitar and a lot of kickin' n' scratchin'. A collaboration with dear friend and music partner, Richard Dennis, this samba is played with a Spanish flare alá the Gypsy Kings and Dean's firery trumpet inspired by the great Mendez. It reflects the strength of Dennis' compositional skill. A tune that is now 30 thirty years old, this is its first studio recording. Masterful sound engineering by Bill Degillio is only exceeded by his brilliant guitar work.
This is the release which builds on the original "Easy Listening" version of a couple years ago. Penned by Jeffrey Michael Brown and arranged by DC Hall and Richard Dennis, this features Dean on lead trumpet, Richard on 2nd and the great Bill Degillio on keys, guitar and programming.

This “BopGrass” breakdown marks a close to 40 year recall of the opening lick which kicks off the tune. "Tho’ I wrote it, I realized I didn’t play any bluegrass instruments. That is all left to the virtuosic Bill Degillio, playing keys, guitar, synth plus handling audio engineering. I play the Baritone/Tuba part (figured I had to do something) plus a spit of percussion and mouth music. It’s dedicated to the legendary Dick Caldwell, my first bandleader, eventual manager and dear, dear friend (AND his '68 Cadillac, which was always 'breaking down')."
Dean Clark "DC" Hall has been writing music and entertaining audiences since 1973.
With a wry sense of humor in his song lyrics, he can inspire laughter
and tears. His instrumental compositions are light hearted "Snappy Happy Jazz"®, accessible to all.

"This odd metered reggae tune marks a first dip into the world of the "explicit" for me; just one word, but I was so fed up with all the politization of the Corona/Covid thing that I had to express a certain amount of frustration. Never had so much fun being pissed off at the Government!"
